wow .. you should just keep building houses like that for a month or two .. before you build a massive castle .. That would give a true, confused and weird street layout of the old part of a European city ..

OOH, put campfires on top of the Chimneys where the Trapdoors are, So the trapdoors can cover the Campfire to give a Smoking chimney effect.
I did do that. See the last pic. I have no idea why there isn't any smoke in the first 2 pics.
