Kennedy is so good he’s here twice!

sdu754

Since I have seen it on a few posts, I am just wondering why Biden at Attorney General?

[deleted]

He served on the Judiciary Committee in the Senate and even chaired it for a session. There's a lot of people that could have gone there, but I think he fits in the best.

sdu754

That makes sense then. I saw him and Clinton a lot and wondered why they were popular choices.

thatbakedpotato

JFK as attorney general is a good call. I would’ve done Carter as Agriculture and FDR as labor maybe.

D00NL

I almost feel like it would make more sense to swap Biden and Carter, as both have experience with either the military or veterans in their families, but given that Carter is actually a veteran it probably makes more sense.

sdu754

That's why I put Carter in the Veterans affairs. He's a veteran and his penchant for micromanagement would work well there.

Nixon for all 17 positions

PreservationOfTheUSA

**President** - George Bush Sr. Overall, my favorite President of the recent ones. I believe his guiding vision of moderate conservatism would be ideal. **Vice President** - Ronald Reagan George Bush had a proven capacity to work together [as they were a duo in the White House during Reagan's term]. However, Reagan's term was defined by an aggressive "movement conservatism", which I'd rather avoid in favor of George Bush Sr's brand. Additionally, I'd like to have a "radical" as a running mate to excite many conservatives who believe the administration isn't "conservative enough". Think the current administration for an example **Secretary of State** -Franklin Roosevelt This was another obvious choice. Although I disagree with many of FDR's domestic policies, his foreign policy leadership during the world's moment of crisis [WW2] could greatly be needed nowadays **Secretary of Treasury** - Calvin Coolidge. I am greatly in favor of free-market policies, like much of this sub. Calvin Coolidge exemplified these, being a hero of those who favor a more capitalist approach to economics. Calvin has all of the thinking of an ideologue without an idealogue's restricted patterns of thinking. **Secretary of Defense** - Dwight Eisenhower Eisenhower is clearly the best choice. His experience as Supreme Allied Commander in the greatest global conflict in history is unrivaled. Although some people might say that overly high-ranking officials in the military shouldn't be SecDef, Eisenhower's reputation for bipartisanship and moderation should negate that. **Attorney General** - Joe Biden I am not the world's biggest fan of Joe Biden, but I did vote for him. He was on the Judiciary Committee [even chairing it] which would give experience in this matter. Additionally, his prodigious resume would help him adapt to this demanding role. **Secretary of the Interior** -Richard Nixon I did not really know where to put him, but I believe one of his uncontroversial accomplishments - creating the EPA would help environmental conservation in this country. **Secretary of Agriculture** -Jimmy Carter I needed somewhere to put this guy. He was Governor of Georgia and it was, and still is to an extent an agricultural state. **Secretary of Commerce** -Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton presided over the largest period of economic growth in US history. Whatever he did, it worked. I am a big supporter of free trade and his continuation of NAFTA [despite it being developed by his electoral rival] is a positive for me. **Secretary of Labor** - Harry S. Truman Honestly, I really wished I could have put him higher, but similarly to Gerald Ford people simply outcompeted him. If I could have two SecStates, he would be the second one. However, I’ve heard he was relatively pro-worker for the time period so I think he’d look out for their welfare. **Secretary of Health and Human Services** -Barack Obama Jr. Honestly, I don’t much like Obama but he was responsible for a lot of healthcare legislation such as the ACA [Obamacare] so it would make sense to put him here **Secretary of Housing and Urban Development** -Lyndon Johnson - Lyndon Johnson had a great vision for using housing to alleviate poverty with his Great Society program. With the civil rights signed under his leadership cemented nowadays, under the right leadership, I believe that he would have an excellent mandate to alleviate the segregational divides which pervade housing. **Secretary of Transportation** -Herbert Hoover Although his economic policies were seen as questionable, Hoover did have an instrumental role in developing air-travel, which shows the vision necessary to find transportation solutions in the 21st Century. Commonly, transportation secretaries are in favor of big government projects, however I think that Hoover would be an exception to this rule. He would be able to find free-market solutions to pressing problems. **Secretary of Energy** - Donald Trump Trump clearly does not have a lot of experience when it comes to governing, and I think it showed in his governing style. However, because I have to put him on here, I think this is actually a good choice. During his Presidency, Trump increased the amount of nuclear weapons in the American arsenal drastically which I agree with. The best offense is a good defense. Additionally, he also signed the Clean Air and Water Act [I am not sure how much he had do do with it though], which would be good for another one of the Secretary's responsibilities - "maintenance of environmental quality" **Secretary of Education** -Gerald Ford Honestly, I wanted to put him higher but everyone else kind of crowded him out. Imo, he was kind of a capable policy maker in his long legislative career so this could help in this position. **Secretary of Veteran’s affairs** - John F Kennedy Kennedy was relatively inexperienced and young when he ascended to the Presidency. Because of that, I'm not gonna put him in anything too important. However, he made up for it in vision which would be ideal as we need someone to "revolutionize" our traditionally underfunded and ignored Veteran's healthcare. He also served in WW2 **Secretary of Homeland Security** - George Bush Jr. George Bush Jr. was essentially the architect a lot of the long-overdue national security infrastructure which keeps America safe from terrorists. This is the closest thing to that position. **Not gonna lie, this took a lot more thought than predicted.**

D00NL

Out of curiosity, why put Obama as Secretary of Defense as opposed to someone like Eisenhower, who was a general?

FredererPower

I considered that but I decided Eisenhower should be VP
