“I can’t trust Obama. I have read about him, and he’s not, um, he’s an Arab,” a woman said to McCain at a town hall meeting in Lakeville, Minnesota in October 2008. McCain grabbed the microphone from her, cutting her off. “No, ma’am,” he said. “He’s a decent family man [and] citizen that just I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues, and that’s what the campaign’s all about. He’s not [an Arab].” A moment that foretold more than we realized, and he stood tall in it. RIP

sphc88

Eh, that moment got played up a lot especially after Mccain’s death, but there was plenty of things being shouted at his rallies that he didn’t call out. He didn’t really rein in his running mate at all either, and both of them were saying Obama was friends with a terrorist.

[deleted]

i mean he was chill for that but my opinion on that is because he would have been simply a better president

BlueRidgeRambler9

I always kind of liked Henry Clay and thought he would have made a good president. He might have been a moderating force as we headed toward the Civil War. Of course I doubt he could have stopped it, and it’s also doubtful that moderation would have addressed slavery in a positive manner.

KryptonianKnig2

I agree with Clay although it entirely depends on when he became president

SignificantTrip6108

I’m throwing up.

ThreeBlindIce

Sorry you had to read something so stupid lol

ThreeBlindIce

>I always kind of liked Henry Clay and thought he would have made a good president. 🤡 🤡

Secret_Ad2958

Come on man, don’t tell me you aren’t even a little bit interested in seeing that happen.

ThreeBlindIce

I rather not have the country have another egomaniac as president. We already saw what happened with Trashedore

Secret_Ad2958

I know but even as a hypothetical?

YourNewStep-Dad

“🤡🤡” what an intelligent Counter-Argument. Could you give me your sources? I’m really interested in how you came to such a logical and well phrased conclusion

ThreeBlindIce

>Counter-Argument. Could you give me your sources? [here is one](https://youtu.be/QB7ACr7pUuE) >I’m really interested in how you came to such a logical and well phrased conclusion Because Henry Clay was dogshit and only a clown would like him

YourNewStep-Dad

I don’t know why I even tried to have an argument with you, you don’t actually have anything of substance to say you just act like a child

ThreeBlindIce

Why would I want to have an argument with someone who likes Henry Clay. You asked me for "sources" as if what I said was a factual claim. Jesus christ, are you really this stupid?

Photoplier

Easy. Bob Dole.

2003Oakley

Eugene Debs

YourNewStep-Dad

Amen! Convict No.9653!

FredererPower

Al Gore, RFK, Mitt Romney and Walter Mondale

Kanye-Cosby

Bobby Kennedy.

GoCardinal07

Thomas E. Dewey: as Governor, his policies on education, public health, debt reduction, racial equity, and transportation transformed New York. He is one of the best Governors New York ever had and could well have been a great President.

NoUsernameHOI4

Hubert Humphrey. I’m convinced that 1968 was where everything started to go wrong

Key_Shower_3871

America may have been in better place... 😞

VisualKey7540

You mean Benjamin Wade? Lol

Key_Shower_3871

I always get his name mixed up

SignificantTrip6108

I don’t have a favorite.

DatDude999

Hubert Humphrey, without question.

seniortooth5662

Al Gore

PlayfulReveal191

Ross Perot, William Jennings Bryant, or maybe Al Gore just so we didn’t have Iraq (most likely).

TickLikesBombs

I was gonna say Goldwater >:(

Key_Shower_3871

Well that's fair. I shouldn't have been too stringent on the rules.

TickLikesBombs

My other choice would be Dewey

TickLikesBombs

I was gonna say Goldwater >:(

rc53415

Al Gore, Bob Dole and Mondale

Blue-Ape-13

HILLARY

soxfaninfinity

I think she is good and overhated, although I have a few I like more.

Blue-Ape-13

Oh me too, Gore, Mondale

VisualKey7540

No

Blue-Ape-13

Elaborate

SignificantTrip6108

Literally why

Blue-Ape-13

For one it's about damn time we had a female President and at that point in time we were really close. I agree with her stances on most issues, including guns, queer rights, immigration, and climate. I also think she's really likable and a trailblazer. Top 5 politicians from my lifetime

YourNewStep-Dad

Bro really for downvoted for saying he agreed with her stances on human rights. I don’t like Hillary, she was not progressive enough for me at all and was an establishment Democrat, but this guy really just said he wanted better Human rights essentially and he got downvoted. Obviously in All Reality she is a Politician so she probably would have gotten none of that done but still even I, a progressive would say I agreed with her STANCES on the same things he said.

Blue-Ape-13

MetalRetsam

Nixon should've been elected in 1960, not 1968.

Real_Paramedic_1789

Def Aaron Burr

MMSLWYD

Pardon me

Real_Paramedic_1789

A true American hero unfairly treated by history

MMSLWYD

Are you Aaron Burr, sir?

Real_Paramedic_1789

No just a child of the Garden State, like Aaron. You know he was one of the only founding fathers that thought women should be able to vote. And was 100% against slavery. And unlike Hamilton, he didn’t want to turn the US into another monarchy like England.

MMSLWYD

Yeah yeah I know who Burr is, I was making a reference to Hamilton

Colonel_Aaron_Burr

YESS. ANOTHER BURR STAN. MY BOY WAS DONE WRONG. HE WAS SUCH A NICE MAN.

thechadc94

Ross Perot, Al Gore, Walter Mondale.

bigbob1945

Perot

mosesberger

Adlai Stevenson

_Fruit_Loops_

Al Gore, Walter Mondale, George McGovern, Hubert Humphrey, Adlai Stevenson, Thomas Dewey, and of course Robert Kennedy.

Colonel_Aaron_Burr

Aaron Burr. I feel like the War of 1812 could've happened earlier and he would've whipped Britain's butt without the White House burning down. Also no duel.

sdu754

Daniel Webster followed by Charles Evan Hughes

Colonel_Aaron_Burr

Daniel Webster is cool
