Drop pod raid prime target.
I think you mean *food* drop pod.
It's the same
Lol cannibal life baby
I will give them a warm welcome with sentry guns 💕 <3
Dude. Learn the rules: no posting cool areas without seed info. It's a rule I just made up, don't bother looking to the right.
>Seed : blade
>Coordinate : 18.53°N 11.58°E
>Coverage : 50%
>Map Size : 275x275
was away at that time. Also how can you edit a post after posting it? i want it seeds in there
Op is godlike

I think you can edit post but can't edit title, you should have EDIT button below the post on desktop
cant seem to find it. Besides comments, there are only share, save, hide and the 3 dots which only shows:

Someone commented below, we can't edit image post. Sorry man, my bad, I didn't know that.
ahh its fine. thanks for helping me 👍
Upvote it to the top, lads. Go go go.
Can't edit an image post
Ohh I didn't know that. Well that sucks. At least OP delivered.
Sadly you can’t edit a headline once you post. But, like you did, post a comment if you have more info to add. 😁
Hey it doesn't work for me. Which map size did you choose? Globe and map?
It didn't work for me either, until I switched the map size to the bigger-medium one.
map size is on last on medium size (275x275 if i remember correctly)
should be an actual rule, though
I second this rule
I’m all for this rule :D
I agree, let's make me a mod
Quick question. If you don't record that stuff at the start, is there I spot I can find my seed info somewhere?
A nice little haven, but the fight to claim it will be fraught with great peril.
That is even less creative.
Just wait until they fall asleep at night, then sneak past them with all your stuff, and build a door so they don't attack you at your home.
Yeah, creative is doing something like make a pod launcher and launch to the enclave. That's not exactly feasible, but that would be creative.
There is no creative solution to be had here. Every solution is going to be one of the straightforward solutions of fight, sneak, or go around.
Worship the bugs as gods, and sacrifice your flesh to them. Bam, a 4th option - I'm creative.
Use pawnmorpher to become one of the bugs?
Taming could be an option, but that means waiting until winter, and only if winter comes hard enough to hibernate them. otherwise, they could hopefully knock a few out and rescue tame them. still risky as hell but it's about the only alternative option that comes to mind.
> only if winter comes hard enough to hibernate them
If they're in hibernation, then taming is completely unnecessary to get past them. That's functionally the same as sneaking.
I mean taming them as an alternative addition to sneaking past them. Having them as pets would be better than having a feral hive at your door blocking traders and visitors as well as enemies.
I mean, that's like saying you can't be creative in rimworld because every game ends with you dying, winning or quitting.
I chose love. Tame the beasts and become one with the bug
...exit...for...my colonists??? I don't follow.
Killboxes are the least creative defense method you could use, regardless of what traps you put inside
Even when I forbid the doors my colonists wander right in for that delicious insect jelly as soon as they go into a daze.
Do you set an area restriction? It worked for me with a radiation circle in the middle of map, but not 100% sure
I'm on a new map with bugs and instead of doors I did an area restriction and it works way better. They do still wander in sometimes but I've just started arresting everybody who gets a wandering eye haha. The only issue I'm having is that sometimes they send their caravan right through the bug cave until I cancel it and go out in a different direction from my camp. Any way to resolve that besides killing them? I'm finally up to enough manpower to take them on now.
>I'm on a new map with bugs and instead of doors I did an area restriction and it works way better. They do still wander in sometimes but I've just started arresting everybody who gets a wandering eye haha.
I'd read that.
"That door. Why are we forbidden to even look inside these caves? What are they hiding there?"
"The mayor said it's unsafe."
"Unsafe my ass. When something's unsafe you hang a sign, you don't build a damn blast door. Besides, Do you know why Flebe's in the hospital? He had one of his "bouts" and tried to go there. Rick damn near cut off his leg arresting him. What could be more 'unsafe' than that?"
"I don't know, but I don't think Rick knows what's in there either. He was just trying to follow orders, not weighing risks."
"Exactly, which means what that little lackey's been doing is what the mayor told him. The mayor... He's been here the longest. He has to know what's there. He might be the only one who does."
"Well, someone had to be there to know its unsafe and build the door, so I guess you're right."
"Do you think he just saw what's in there? Or... made it?"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Use your imagination. An empty cave, conveniently isolated from both the living areas and the outside. What if the dangerous thing wasn't there when the mayor arrived? and who is it dangerous for?"
"And what could possibly be in there? The mayor killed people, we killed people too. Even if he killed people who ought not to be killed, its not like we'd have a way of telling by their skeletons. And it wouldn't be anybody we ever knew, because none of them went missing suddenly. Same if he ate them when he just arrived, just skeletons left now."
"You're thinking about it wrong. What could be in there? What couldn't be in there? I don't know if you fucking noticed, but this planet is home to at least one omnipotent superintelligence of the highest class who may or may not be dormant, and probably dozens of lesser but still very capable AIs who may or may not be serving it. There could be literally anything there."
This couldn't end well. It won't. But at least it gave Jack something more immediate and tangible to worry about than the impeding doom. A doom much greater than the mere end of his life.
"Right now, son, you're the second most enlightened member of the colony. Scratch that, no, it's been years since I've been to these god accursed caves, while you've been there just now. so you're actually even more enlightened than me. So tell me, how are the bugs doing?"
Bones. Bones. Bones. Blood painting the floor until it looked like it was just the color of the rock. Corpses strewn like trash, old and new. A thousand chittering mouths. Ten thousand chitinous legs tapping the floor of the cave. It took jack a while to notice in the cacophony, but the worst sound of all eventually revealed itself with a whisper. The grinding of chitin against rock. Digging. Digging a future grave. Death. The smell of the death that was. The sight of the death that is, should he make a noise. That sound heralding the death that will be.
"They're expanding. They'll kill us all."
"I know that. I'm asking, how long do we have left."
"You're insane. We need to evacuate now. Nothing in the rim could possibly be worse than what will happen when they break to us."
"I'm afraid that's not a possibility. Not a wise one, anyway. These hives usually reach an equibalerium at a certain point. The insects, thank god, don't know how to farm, so they relay on hunting to keep themselves fed, and that's naturally a finite food source."
"And in this case?"
"You want to know why Rick is so loyal? when he joined the colony I've noticed he is an unusually quick young lad. No, don't give me that sarcastic expression, not in mind, although apparently he's still better in that department than you. Physically quick. That makes him a good fit for arresting people who do things they ought not to, but also for other tasks. How long have you been in the colony?"
"You going to answer my question at some point?"
"You're not really in a position to ask any questions, but for the sake of smoothing things, yes, I'm getting to it. Now answer, how long have you been in the colony?"
"A year and a half."
"And before that you were just a part of the outside world, right?"
"It's been a while since I've been there, so tell me. Is there a central authority now? Law and order in the rim? Free healthcare, maybe? I'll take that expression as an answer. So, did you ever wander where all the raiders were? I'm sure you've met plenty during your time outside. Or been one."
"We had raiders, in drop pods..."
"And all the others? Do all raiders use drop pods now? In your time here, have you ever built a trap, maintained a turret, or been sent outside with a gun in defense? Or did you think no one noticed our colony, which is one of the biggest on the planet?
The reason Rick is so loyal is his speed made him a good fit for the task of opening the doors leading from that cave to the outside, and fleeing. Raiders would miss our hidden entrance, and think that was the entrance to our fortress and the untold riches within.
Oh, they prepared for a great deal of things. They would use light to better see whatever lay ahead. They threw rocks to try and spot traps. They shot to trigger any mines we might have had. They came equipped with smoke to obscure any turrets, snipers to counter any we might have, power armor, gun and blade, drugs, bionics... all for naught. At first, nothing would happen, as they ventured deeper into the caves. Then, eventually, all that light and noise... it would attract *them.* Rick is loyal because he saw so many raiders going in, but never coming out.
Nothing to say? Very well. It was beneficial in the beginning. Yes, the very beginning. I was alone, and could only lose by fighting against the desperate tribesman that showed up. Die where we fought, or die limping on the way to the herbal medicine I managed to scrounge.
Then someone showed up not to kill me, but to join me. You've met my wife Margaret, right? I was desperate. If the tribesman wouldn't have gotten me, the rimworld itself would have. And honestly, I was lonely too. I told her not to go into the caves, that it's dangerous. I haven't told her why. I couldn't. And I've done the same with everybody else since that day.
We grew. And with us grew the raids. No longer just desperate lone nomads seeing traces of human life, hoping to find residences of people live or dead, but organized raids. It didn't matter. They died all the same. Eventually, we reached a point where we could handle the raids ourselves, but it didn't matter. Somewhere along the way, the insects stopped being a convenience and started being a liability. They needed to be fed, more than just the wildlife around and a few natural mushrooms could feed them.
So we fed them. As our wealth grew, more and greater raids came, sometimes multiple groups banding together across the planet to try and claim the riches of our great fortress. And with them grew the insects. Eventually the rumors said our fortress held the ultimate prize: a ticket off this planet. They're right, you know. You'd have to build the ship, and start the reactor, but the knowledge is here. And the materials. But if we left now... I don't want to imagine what would happen to this planet. It would be flooded with insects untold. They'll construct new hives where they find things to hunt. Until they consume everything.
In the beginning, I thought we could keep this up forever. Or that, if the raids at least died down gradually, the insects would leave slowly and can be dealt with, by us or the other factions or nature itself. But I kept counting how many raiders went in, to estimate if the insects were getting enough food, and their numbers. And then one day I thought, twenty raiders coming in and not a single one out. They are fairly well armed and each could take on a single insect with relative ease. There must be at least twice that number of insects inside. But the cave I saw was too small for that many insects.
So I went to that cave, to see. And see I did. That was the last time I went there. There won't be a next time.
I swear I would never have done it if I knew they could do it. That they can- they will- get out of that accursed prison cell someday. But now it's too late. The people can't know. A day will come when we shall be faced with a choice. To face down the fury of the endless swarm, or fly away and let the planet be swarmed. But for now, the others cannot know. They must stay here. The insects must be fed."
Damn that was a good read
Thank you, that was a trip to write. Went from just saying I'd like to read that, to writing a short Paragraph, to an entire short story. Decided to change the ending when I got to it too, originally it was the mayor working on a nuclear missile or some other super weapon to take the insects out and contemplating whether he can let Jack go or will it destabilize the colony too much and thus undermine that purpose, but decided to go with more of a lovecraft vibe with a bit of hopefulness.
Definitely do writing if it's not already your hobby!
Does area restriction prevent accidents when in a mental state?
The bugs? I never dealt with them but I saw something about taming them in the winter in comments of this post somewhere. There are also mods that let you control where you leave the map for caravans
No they still wander in when in a mental state, I have to arrest them to keep them away.
the best approach here would be to create a second entrance to the hidden area and use a wall to wall off the bugs. that should minimize the amount of times that dazed pawns try to path into the bug den, assuming they start in the hidden area.
But then no more kill box :(
another possibility would be to keep a stack of wood next to the door and wall it up as soon as someone went on break. i've seen this done effectively for keeping drug binges down (by walling up the drugs)
Oh I see, that sucks. Do you have to convert them back then?
Nope you can just release them and they rejoin your colony like normal. They get a debuff for being imprisoned though
Huh, that's good to know, thanks!
That won't last long. How do you farm jelly when they are asleep if you let the raiders slowly kill them off? No, you wall them in and swipe jelly at night. You can finance rapid colony development on insect jelly.
However, the journey will be rewarding with food and jellies.
sry for those who was asking earlier for seeds. I was away at that time :(
Seed : blade
Coordinate : 18.53°N 11.58°E
Coverage : 50%
Map size : 275x275
Note, Due to my mistake, i didnt capture a full picture at the top too. In real gameplay the top area is fully covered with stones just like a normal mountainous biome does.
Thank you for your seed
That's ... Weird if outside of context
I'm not sure what you mean. I see nothing weird about taking the seed of a man for my own pleasure.
Ah, Randy bless you with 3 pods of chocolate in a row.
Full maps and location with terrain. Not entirely accurate but close enough. Missing the sand.
[Mountain Pockets] [Temperate Forest] [Limestone, Granite] [Seed: blade] [Coverage: 50%] [Rainfall: 7/7] [Temperature: 3/7] [Size: 275x275] [18.53N, 11.58E]
thanks for covering on the details dude! <3
Here it is.
is this vanilla?
sorry, its not.
But dont worry because i didnt used any mod that alters biome generation, so it should be the same for everyone. :)
I usually spend an our on map reroll
Spam click to generate 100 maps, come back in 15 minutes to pick your favorite, get the geysers in the perfect spots, start game ... Close game in 15 minutes because planning is too overwhelming
Stop watching me play.
Same here, I have such specific requirements in my head that it takes forever to find a good seed lol. My maps must:
-be mountainous or large hills
-have a nice pocket to set up base in
-be near a friendly faction to trade with
-preferably have all 4 seasons
-mountains have to be on the north or south side
Please tell me the seed and the coords
Seed : blade
Coordinate : 18.53°N 11.58°E
This comment section reminds me of a sperm bank
Lmao "seed plz" nice observation :)
Oh my god man
I see gardeners everywhere
Post seed, or may Randy curse your colony with 2 years of heat waves and permanent infestations
Seed : blade
Coordinate : 18.53°N 11.58°E
Thanks for posting. Been low key refreshing the comments 😅
Wonderful. May Randy allow your colony to prosper!
Is that a wandering centipede up top?
Also the top can have raiders. That's not sealed.
Ideology added centipede corpses that spawn on the map when you start.
Yeah, it made the planet once housing an advanced civilization destroyed by an archotech in a war from heavily implied to stated canon.
the picture isnt full but at the top its all just stones there because its a mountainous biome
Ah okay. Yeah looks sweet.
Please dont be cruel and post the seed! You should share your happiness.
# INSECTOIDS WANT TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION
There are two squares from the north they can come from lol
Normally you'd be right, but look closely. There's rock there. It's like, 2-3 pixels that shows the rough stone so it's fairly secluded.
I feel the need...
The need for the map seed.
It’s gonna take you three hours to do anything outside of your little grotto.
"Every now and then, RNGesus smiles upon some drooling little loaf child and says 'You, my son. You shall be the one with all the figgy pudding' "
S E E D ?
Jolly good morning dear sir/madam, perhaps you have not noticed when my peers requisited, but we require this map seed.
Thank you in advance.
And the madlad replied to every single one.
Well played, OP.
Well im still not sure how reddit comments work so i just reply to everyone asking for seeds XD. I predicted my single comment on the post might not reach others like how youtube works.
No big, thanks for posting the seed, this layout looks pretty interesting so I want to try it.
I likey!!! What seed and location is this?
Nice! Thank you!
It has been 3 hours and still no seed and Coords :(
If there ends up being no seed provided, I won't do anything but I will feel disappointed in you.
Harsh but fair
Thank you very much!
may we, perhaps, be as blessed with a seed?
oh hell yeah
Insect lair: ah yes come here there is nothing wrong in this place
That anima tree is not gonna let you build there.
It only covers a small part tho. I dont see it a problem building there
Can you upload the word save? I want to try and play on that map, its been a while since I played and want to try.
Sure! But you will have to wait untill tomorrow though as im on bed rn :)
I'm so sorry but I think can't do it. I think it'd be more reliable if you were to do it by yourself as the options for something like Ideology or character stats, might not suit your preferences.
Spawn of my dreams !!!
I once had a base kinda like this, I just laid out like a hundred traps and barely ever had to defend my base
Sorry for my bad English,
IMHO, the downside of this, you're going to experience harder fights in siege raids, since you cannot immediately fire at those siege raiders from range, you need to order your pawns to travel through that cave.
Imagine a siege raid is coming from the bottom, and they have a big-ass mortars + some fortifications, that cave entrance is like counter-kill box, it is your pawns who are getting choked. You're dead.
You need to quickly get at least one mortar ASAP to counter siege, place some traps on bottom west, or you need to dig an opening (with embrasure or window) toward the bottom west from your base, so that at least some pawns have easier access to fire toward the bottom open fields, I prefer this way in the long term.
But this defense have another downside, another type of raid (sapper) that will immediately attack your embrasure, ignoring the cave, if this thing happens, prepare some gunners on the inside to defend. You will need to place some traps inside as well. Or, insect infestations right inside that opening that you just dug, again traps are your friends.
And beware of the drop pod raids... they are nasty.
Rimworld, in any way will have some ways to hit you hard.
drop seed and coords? lol
bless your mods. no way thats vanilla.
you're right its not vanilla. But i dont have any mods that alter any seed generation tho
Dog, we require the seed, we beg you
Give me your seed dammit
Bad guy OP keeping the seed to himself
Posting here because I want seed XD
Can I get that seed?
Seed me daddy
Have fun with thermite raids and droppod mechs
Seed please 🖐️
Just wait for raids that your not ready that will be your tomb
Could raids show up at the 2 tile opening at the top?
Im not sure about that but outside the pictur, the top are are just stones as i am playing on mountainous biome. And i can assure you raids will not happen there due to enough thickness.
Does the history teller Influence the colony Spot
I dont think it does but I havent fully researched it yet so i cant say for sure.
OP about to be Moses parting the Bug Sea to get to the Promised Land
"Bless Randy and the rng god", the famous last words. They just get your hopes up, only to make you fall from higher.
I tried the seed and it's not the same for me. Does anyone have an idea why this wouldn't work? Is it maybe a mod interfering?
sorry forgot to mention that its on :
\-275x275 map size
Ah. Maybe thats it. I'll give that a try. Thanks for replying!
Termites would like to have a word
how do you people keep getting these cool mountains? all I ever get is doo doo
pretty sure maps are predetermined and not based on RNG.
You got nothing on my map
Dude wtf! The random generator of this game creates so many cool things
Only problem is that your buildings are gonna piss off the anima tree. But **worth**.
If you suck up the water will you end up with a lot of rich soil?
Question: What about this map if you use the hospitality mod? How do visitors get in with all the bugs? Or even without the mod, what about traders and the like?
I'm super interested in trying out this map, but not sure what to expect going in.
So, knowing my luck I'd find that map... but I'd spawn in the lower right little hole behind the icons.
that's one safe meditation spot, but that turret in the tunnel doesn't have power right?
Did you land in upper right open area?
Or lower left closed in area?
I usually despise caves but that almost makes it worth it.
Oh nope anima tree
It looks like a stick figure guy with a giant head holding a sword and leaning over to look at the ground.
