once u realize the number means nothing it becomes powerless
Its noice to have a few thousand for making posts in subs that have a karma minimum but it aint anything more than that
There's quite a few jokes I've made that I feel proud of the upvotes I get for, like I put a bit of effort and creativity into a joke and all of these people found it funny. It's nice.
But most of my comments that pop off are just low hanging fruit/standard reddit shit that I happened to be the first one to comment and I don't give a shit about.
It definitely can be a way to boost your ego. I dont normally do it, but every now and then I look up the comments in my profile to see how they did in the past and whenever I see that one did numbers I cant help but feel "reassured" or a sense of "acceptance" if you know what I mean.
Social Media sure takes advantage of this positive feedback to drive and boost engagement, not for nothing Twitter notificates u on default for every like your tweet gets, and iirc both new.reddit and I guess the official reddit app do that as well.
Reddit does it every upvote milestone, so 5/10/25/50/100 etcetera
I imagine the official app does it? I use a third party app, so I don't get any sort of notifications on upvotes milestones, and I think that is just better for me.
I only care about the vote count in debates lmao.
When I have more upvotes i’m like “See! Everyone agrees with ME - i’m right mf!”
When I have less upvotes or just downvotes in general i’m like “Pathetic. These fools could not possibly grasp the reality of the subject at hand”
^Other ^times ^though ^I ^get ^completely ^called ^out ^and ^have ^to ^apologise ^for ^my ^mistake ^with ^my ^tail ^tucked ^between ^my ^legs ^lmao.
I just hit them with the "ok, and?" and hope they get pissed enough that they completely go off the rails which gives me the feeling of "I won."
If they don't then I keep going until they do
Bro ion give af bout the almost two million I got, half my comments are downvoted. I have ones from negative four hundred to like 13k.
Once you hit above 50k, you start to feel a touch invulnerable with your spicy commentary. It's not like you, as an individual, can really pull an EA and tank that amount in any reasonable amount of time.
Only because you get less exposure once the downvotes go low enough. Or get deleted by mods. Some comments I've seen would get massive downvotes if they were sitting at the top and fully visible.
All you need is one sub where you make decent comments. Downvotes don't count past 40 now (or so I've been told), so you can rack up thousands in down votes and still be fine. I've been at like 30k karma for a couple years now
Downvote me boys
Suck on my upvote fuckface
Fuck you. Get upvoted bitch.
Task failed successfully
Fuck you get downvoted bitch
You get upvoted too, cunt!
You too, double cunt!
The problem is there's a cap to how much karma you can lose per comment, IIRC it's estimated to be 10 to 100.
comment is 10, pretty sure post is 100
Half the people you run in to on reddit have stupid takes anyway.
Half is really generous.
My favorite Reddit spice is when people think that upvotes somehow validate their stale opinion on something. Especially in echo chamber subs. Upvotes don't mean you're right, they just mean you've surrounded yourself with like-minded idiots.
Nirvana is realising that funny karma number means nothing
Nirvana is realizing that the need for high karma, for material gain or to gain access to post on more subs, is meaningless, for true enlightenment is realizing you have nothing worth saying, and true bliss is listening to what others say by lurking and occasionally upvoting or downvoting.
Nice try, but I'd rather dangle my balls in a snake pit, than listen to what people say on reddit.
I dangled my balls in your moms pit.
How small is your balls?
Like 1-1.5. Almost average
True illumination is achieved when you realize that in some subreddits, being downvoted means youre right.
Haha for real. People think something has happened if you get downvoted or upvoted but really it’s like Who’s Line and the points dont matter.
I have a collection of comments in my notes on my phone i copy/paste pretty often and identical comments get a huge variety of responses.
Why the hell are people downvoting Shingeki no bitches. That shit was GOLD!
The reddit hive mind commands us
I guess the hive mind does continue to this thread
I cackled at it. Its cropped but I bet the subreddit it’s in plays a role.
Shingeki no bitches is one of the funniest things I've read on this site
Where I live we call it Yougetsu no Bitches
YuYu a fucking virgin
yuyu need a hoe
No bitches no life (no game no life)
No game no bitches
jojo's bizzare bitches
one pump man
should i make more?
That Time I Was Reincarnated as a Virgin
The daily life of a bitchless virgin
Am I the only one that doesn't understand?
The Japanese name for the anime "Attack on Titan" is "Shingeki no Kyojin".
You are welcome!
okay... but to be fair that's halrious.
this one got me
I can understand the downvotes for the first couple comments but Shingeki no Bitches is too good lol
Because people lemming-train that shit.
That’s about the best way I’ve heard that put.
Reddit Hivemind is also a great one. You see the first few downvotes, you agree with the Hivemind, add your own downvote, and influence the next guy
Calling out Reddit hivemind is ironically a Reddit hivemind move, too
A never ending cycle
"Oh my god! It's wheels within wheels! I've been invited inside, with the bean counters and the water boarders!"
Some people missed your clever Jez reference.
Some people literally have no idea what Jez even is? (most people?)
He is a character from a British sitcom called Peep Show I quoted.
Yup, and I frankly hate this term
It always sounds to me like "Hey, reddit is full of idiots who can't think for themselves, apart from me since I uncovered the truth"
Like, chill, I'm just downvoting a comment I don't agree with, it's not like my mind is getting Pavlov'd
EDIT guys I'm not the guy in the screenshot lol
The karma system on reddit is really strange like that.
I made a joke about how orchestras never watch the conductor on a post a bit back. Old musician joke, it’s been told so much it isn’t even terribly funny. But it seemed anodyne enough.
I got a downvote and an angry comment from some musician who proceeded to splain why musicians should be watching the conductor. Seemed kinda like a dumb comment to me—we all know we’re supposed to watch the conductor, or we wouldn’t joke about it—but it turned into a large number of downvotes.
Literally the next day, I read the same joke on a different post. Same subreddit. It had hundreds of upvotes.
People definitely follow each others’ cues on what to upvote and downvote on here. It’s actually concerning because the karma system is integral to how reddit works. Higher voted comments and posts are sorted to the top of the feed, and comments that pass a certain threshold of downvotes (I think its -10) are automatically hidden.
The result is a system that is easily gamed. This is why brigading is such a problem—bring enough people with you and you can basically take over a subreddit. Even without brigading, the karma system very quickly turns subs into echo chambers, which are dangerous in their own way.
I’m not sure that there’s a good solution to the problem. It’s human nature to want to follow the pack. But its a problem nonetheless and its concerning that reddit has a “bury their heads in the sand” approach to the echo chambers and brigading they basically invented.
There are much better moderation systems, like the one that Slashdot uses, but Reddit's is just too damn simple. The amount of upvotes a comment gets is more related to how early on in the age of the thread they post rather than meaningful content.
Classic reddit moment
Reddit, the free thinkers of the internet.
Is it really a Reddit comment if no one is offended by it
Hey I'm walking here
Atsa matta for you?
Yeah I can't. If it's drawn anime-style it's fair enough to call it an anime girl. It's bloody Reddit not a doctorate thesis.
Also shout out to the dude thinking that someone who is calling you out as a degen for your anime pfp(and whatever comment they made to spark the post) is going to think you’re less of a degen because it’s actually a vtuber?
That’s like responding to someone who calls you a nerd for playing too many video games by saying ‘actually the game I play most is magic the gathering, it’s not even a video game’ or something like that.
It's the acktually meme
Honestly liking an anime character from a show you watched seems way less lame than developing a parasocial relationship with a streamer pretending to be an anime girl.
I’m too normal to understand this joke 😞
Could you or someone please explain 'Shingeki no Bitches'? Google tells me 'Shingeki no Kyojin' is the anime.
Shingeki no Kyojin is the anime and he made a pun about it by making it ‘Shingeki **no Bitches**’ to emphasise how the guy he insulted has no females
Lmao, that's funny! Thank you for actually explaining it, haha!
One could say the guy was *Maidenless*
*no waifus* 🥺
Oop, the B in bitches had me thinking it was for Shingeki no Bahamut, but Kyojin makes sense as the lot more popular and well known show.
It's no shock the anime profile pic commented on this.
Relax fortnite kid it's not even anime, it's medb a video game character.
an anime girl
Ok what anime is she from
Spy X No Father
Redditors downvoting someone for asking a question, classic.
No bitches meme
I burst out laught when i saw it
the downvotes just show how powerful he truly was lol
They hated him, because he told them the truth...
Vtubers make me realize I’m a boomer. That shit makes absolutely no sense to me. It feels like Jersey shore for nerds or something.
I get it. I'd like to start streaming to, but I'm uncomfortable with the idea of my face just out there for the entire world to see. A Vtuber (or any other avatar) allows you to keep some privacy while still having something to interact with as a viewer
People already do this by just having a drawn character represent them without showing off their face but v-tubers seem to have their own separate personality than the person running the character and that's where it gets weird for me.
The majority of content creators put in some kind of personality when they record tho
The majority of every single living being puts on a personality when they talk to someone else under different contexts, most streamers, at least the ones I bother with, simply put forth a more positive and higher energy personality to entertain their watchers, but that personality is just an extension of their own and is mostly genuine. With v-tubers it's just some person who creates a fake being with its own lore and essentially larps as them for an hour or two.
Sometimes being exaggerated is better, creating a clear division from real life. To me clowns in a stage are preferable to YouTubers making fake pranks and saying they are real (or worse, being IRL nuisances).
Similarly, I always liked streamers that were more exaggerated than the ones who pretended to be real/relatable, which to me just came off as creepy. Vtubers take that even further and I am all for it.
That's a fair point, but I don't see how watching a vtuber roleplay as a cat or a bird or whatever is different from an actor playing a role in a movie
I think for a lot of people it's the escapism. Hobbies normally provide a reprieve from the real world as it is. What better way to take a break from reality than to indulge in complete fantasy
In my experience it does start out like that, and then they start to move toward their normal personality. Or they stay in character ironically, like act like the character even though everyone knows it's fake
Talk to a person who's playing a character. I mean as a collective not really 1 to 1. Also vtubers have learned that being cute isn't enough, you basically need to be comedians too cus if ur not funny, people tend to not watch you at all.
Well, basically like being a normal streamer lol.
I enjoy it. I'm not big on streamers, feels like every other person is consumed by their image and it makes it all just feel a bit weird. With an avatar there's a clear difference between content creator and human being but there's room to explore a different "character" so instead of watching Ludwig you can watch a person with lore stating they were a duck owning a ramen restaurant or whatever. The suspension of disbelief begins at the get-go.
It feels more of an escape to watch people have fun knowing that they also have their own private lives and can escape from this fake-persona whenever. I enjoy the separation, and I like enjoying a character do stuff who is clearly a real person but also clearly an act.
Mate, calliope is class. Her song End of a Life is amazing.
Most of her songs are really good
That one in particular is a cut above the rest. Its number 1 for all of hololive for me, next to unison and hachama's 2st song
“In case you haven't noticed, you've walked right into my trap”
"NO! STOP! Stop downvoting him thats what he wants!"
For 10 years atleast
Calli would 100% read this and laugh
Calli would also call herself an anime girl...
It's no shock the anime profile pic commented this.
It’s no shock that anime profile pic commented this.
Why are they booing him he’s right
“Every breath I take without your permission raises my self-esteem”
I was saying boo-urns
Because they are too “up their own ass” to take a joke.
Probably posted it in a hentai addict sub
Even worse, r/deadbydaylight
That explains a lot. I used to love that game, but the community/weird balancing issues have kind of ruined it. I'm pretty sure 90% of that sub have a very active twitter profile, which tells you pretty much everything you need to know.
While the dude is obviously, kind of an asshole, most other subs would have 100% given that last one a nod.
I vaguely miss the game, but definitely don't miss the community. Literally the only group of people I've found to be equally, if not more toxic than LoL players.
*Fuck you and your jungle gap!*
Wait sorry, that was a reflex
Probably because they’ve performed a time-lapse bukkake tribute to the anime girl in question
They hated OP because he told them the truth
Can someone explain the joke? Please
its from the anime shingeki no kyojin but he changed the kyojin to bitches
For people who don’t no what he’s talking about, shingeki no kyojin is just attack on titan.
Thanks. I assumed Shingeki meant something that would be added to “no bitches” like “you’ve got”
It just means attack on bitches, which still makes no sense tbh
I think it means: ~~Shingeki~~ __No Bitches__
Correct me if I'm wrong tho
Yeah, it mashed an animu title together with the "no bitches?" meme.
Reddit would be a completely different site if upvotes and downvotes were hidden. Guy’s comeback was hilarious
It would be better to see the upvote/downvote ratio.
A guy with -5 on his comment might have still had 100 upvotes, but 105 downvotes.
If we could see that, I think more people would give a more honest opinion rather than following the hivemind.
I’ve heard a version of this with “Yougetsu no Bitches”
Yugetsu No Biches is the one I use
Shingeki no bitches lmfao
though I do find those kind of people who go on about how “anime bad cause cringe” slightly annoying, that last comment is really good.
anime bad because community cringe. Seriously, people will watch some anime and then make up their entire personality based on that anime. They also will feel obligated to put "I watch anime" on every social media. An anime girl pfp is fine as long as you don't role play as that imaginary 2d character like the fatherless child you are.
It doesn't help that so many animes are also incredibly cringe. Like even the most popular ones that are "actually good anime trust me bro" end up having weird incest vibes or some shit just casually creep in there in episode 6.
The usual depiction of women pisses me off too. Every medium has a bit of fanservice here and there, but anime has some real persistence in the way women always seem to be written by someone who's never talked to one before
> seem to be written by someone who’s never talked to one before
Yup sounds like Japan.
Exactly. It’s like no matter how good an anime is, there’s always some scenes I wouldn’t want my friends to see me watching.
The never ending cycle of wanting to watch the monogatari series for the genuinely good drama and interesting story but ultimately not wanting to touch it with a 10ft pole because of the rampant depictions of incest and pedophilia.
It's ok cuz she's akchually a 5000 year old vampire and shit.
But the toothbrushing scene.... there's just no way to bullshit out of that one.
That's just Japan. Weebs and the Japanese will look past pedophiles. Im pretty sure the entire manga/anime industry loves child porn. The author, Watsuki, for Kenshin or whatever came back after being arrested for terabytes of literal child porn and other authors celebrated his return lol. Authors like Oda of One Piece and Kishimoto of Naruto and a ton of others celebrated it like it was nothing lmao. Let me reiterate, TERABYTES of child porn. Came back like it was nothing and his very prominent peers congratulated him. He had so much child porn that police thought he was a distributor. How he came out of jail is just another Japanese thing lmao.
EDIT: His punishment was a 2k fine LMAO, Japan is so fucking gross.
Welp. I found a new insult to use on anime fans. Shingeki no Bitches.
You're on reddit. You can use it on everyone
Shingeki no Bitches.
Sacrificed his karma for the greater good
Don't use "doot" to refer to votes ever again, please.
Baby doot, doo doo doo doodoo doodoo
I hate you
I mean, [it is almost Halloween](https://www.reddit.com/r/tumblr/comments/vb2psp/its_spooky_time/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). And we all know that skeletons go doot.
Thank Mr. Skeltal.
As a weeb and also a mori enjoyer, that guy knew humor and everyone that down voted him got they're feelings hurt.
If Mori (the girl in the pfp) read this, she'd laugh.
Knowing her by her personality, she would also congrats the person that made that joke.
"Uhmm akshually Ouro Kronii isn't an anime girl she's an idol/vtuber"
All of those titles pale in comparison to what we actually know
I love how the picture is clearly an anime girl but they're like "NOOOOOO, ANIME? I WOULD NEVER. This is a different kind of Japanese-inspired fake 10-year-old girl."
help this has me cacklingggg 😭
once you realize karma is just to show popularity of opinion at best, it holds no power over you
What is this chads username
It's me. It was from the DBD subreddit.
Oh he deleted his account
It’s u/Melatonen also this thread happened 34 days ago so it’s probably a repost and OP has no clue who it actually is.
Jesus will resurrect on the 3rd day I’ve read about this
No he didn't, OP posted the wrong one probably because it's a repost
The king is u/Melatonen
Well, I’ll be thinking about it
If you know how reddit links work, post ID is um7pyf and parent comment ID is i80iqm1. If you don't, I'm sure you can search a way to figure it out. Unfortunately, the mods in that sub deleted the final comment after it gained like 16 awards, but you can restore it using things I'm sure you can search for. Finally, if you're wondering how I found the comment chain in the first place, I searched for it. There are websites that let you search things.
1) I listen to Calliope Mori occasionally because I enjoy bilingual rap for some reason
2) that's funny anyways if you ask me
If you like bilingual rap and mori you should try listening to demondice :)
Hell yeah, demondice got the good shit!
I do! I actually like her work more because the lyrics flow better, she really does a good job with that.
Both very funny & very cringey simultaneously.
I'm saying downvote guy won that in the end
That dude is a god in my eyes.
Why do I need bitches?
Thats what a good soldier does, fights until the very end.
Fortnite players are all that anime pfpers really want to be like.
1. Be a child so they are allowed around children again as only kids play fortnite.
2. Have friends
3. Can contribute nothing to society (like they already do)
I respect the guy with downvotes. He is based as fuck
