Wait until OP finds out Waffle House adds a tip to all to go orders

BetterthanIwasbefore

Last I went to WH, they now have the service charge plus a different charge - can't remember the name - and two together come to close to 20%. That said, I've only gotten to go at WH one time ever. Part of the WH experience is sitting there.

abernathym

It has been a while since I've been. I rarely eat there anymore because they pulled most of the stuff I liked from the menu.

skaqqs

Like what

abernathym

The original burgers, the chili and blt combo, the waffle sandwich, the $2 value items. I think there are a few others but I can't remember them now.

[deleted]

Very serious. I can’t fathom why you would charge people extra who don’t want to take up a table with their $8 taco salad and $2 tip.

slayer522

Because - you aren’t drinking when you get to go. Cause 90% of patrons aren’t gonna tip - and certainly not tip well - when getting to go. Cause you’re not gonna linger and order dessert when you get to do And they found a way to get their money and keep the restaurant afloat in these, the most miserable times

[deleted]

Well all they did was tell me I’m better off ordering from Barberitos who hooks me up with free chips and 3 different kinds of salsa for around the same price

slayer522

Have fun dying on this $2 hill. I’ll circle back to this comment in 3-5 years when you’re bitching “why is every restaurant in this town a chain”

[deleted]

You do realize there are like 5 La Parillas right? Barberitos isn’t much more of a chain than La Parilla.

slayer522

No. I’m currently unable to do simple google searches of my hometown. Please enlighten me more

[deleted]

I’m just pointing out what you said is idiotic, acting like La Parilla is some bastion of small business in Athens. It’s mediocre Mexican food and a franchise.

meatsntreats

The three La Parillas in the Athens area are all owned by the same family. There are La Parillas all over, it’s a very common name for Mexican restaurants, but the ones here are not franchises. That’s like saying the Aqua Lindas and Señor Sols are franchises. As others have said, lots of Mexican restaurants charge for chips and salsa to go. If you want free chips and colored water from Barberitos, you’re welcome to it.

BizAnalystNotForHire

Barberito's has over 50 locations across Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, and Tennessee. La Parrilla has like 5 within 20 miles and they are all different parts of the same family.

provenhollow

excellent full force take down of this moron. good job peoples!

WillingnessOk3081

i’m glad you like it and think that it’s good!

TheoR700

La Parilla isn't the only Mexican restaurant that does this. It is pretty standard for most dine in Mexican restaurants. Also, looking at your post and comment history OP, all you do is bitch. Maybe you should seek some help.

chocobotallstar

You best not be stalking. Stalking bad.

[deleted]

It’s actually not standard. I’ve lived in multiple cities in multiple states and they’re the only ones that do this. Also, stalking is weird. Don’t stalk people.

I_say_upliftingstuff

Lmao OP deleting his downvoted comments

_Upgrayyedd

Looking at a poster's history isn't stalking if one is looking for context. Was TheoR700's motive creepy or prurient? Almost certainly not! Thus giving us another example OP's tortured perception of ordinary life. Poor thing :(

Oriolesguy

TIL the word "prurient". Another daily checkbox filled for "learn something new every day". Thanks random internet commenter.

TheoR700

I have lived in multiple cities and states and every Mexican dine in restaurant I have ordered to go from does this.

Smooth_Intention9874

That’s like restaurant 101, bringing physical customers in the door almost always brings extra sales no matter what the strategy. Go to fucking chilis and get your chips then. Bet this mf won’t link the restaurants he’s talking about. Guarantee they don’t either 🤷🏼‍♂️

LoavesOfCorn

As much as I love and now expect free chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant, I always find it bizarre that I can eat chips and salsa at a restaurant that would cost $5+ if bought from a store.

[deleted]

When I lived in Marietta the Mexican restaurant by me would throw in the chips and salsa for free. Same at the Mexican restaurant by my house in Florida. La Parilla is the only place I’ve ever seen charge for it to go.

BizAnalystNotForHire

you've lived a sheltered life

Observationsofidiocy

You seriously bitching about paying $2 for chips and salsa?

[deleted]

It just doesn’t make sense to charge extra for people who don’t want to eat in

Observationsofidiocy

It does. The Togo containers are costing them money, and as stated, they’re not making money off you ordering drinks. $2 for chips and salsa is a good deal.

[deleted]

I don’t order drinks anyways. I get a water.

Observationsofidiocy

Sure, but the hope is you’ll buy drinks, apps, deserts (because they make more money off those things) etc because you’re there for the dining experience. Doesn’t always work out but they’re using the law of averages. You might not buy drinks but the table next to you had 3 pitchers of margaritas, or someone’s kids are drinking fountain soda that cost them $0.08 that they’re selling for $2.50.

FlatwormOk6171

L take. don't go if its such an issue for you.

MF-ingTeacher

It's called a loss leader...People spend more in the restaurant. And tip. Jeesus. Edit. I told my wife about this thread and her response was, “why would anyone even want to hang around with someone that bitches about something like that?”

FavoredKaveman

Looking at the comments here… why do you eat there if you think it’s mediocre? If you really think places like Barberitos are better, why aren’t you spending your money there already?

this-guy-not-sure

Just skip the Mexican food all together and save $20

chocobotallstar

He gone

chocobotallstar

Or she

WillingnessOk3081

or they

AcidSweetTea

It’s $2…

Marviiiiiie

You are paying for the to go containers.

bubbagr

Let me help you out with your future orders at restaurants - if you think a menu item is priced unfairly, don't order it.

[deleted]

Let me help you out.. if you don’t agree with a thread, don’t comment on it

bubbagr

You clearly don't understand how the internet works.

[deleted]

I do, which is why I don’t comment on things I don’t agree with.

JohnnyTailgate

Comments the idiot who doesn’t agree with paying $2.00 for to-go chips and salsa. 🤔

PissedOffDawg

My lord, what a stupid ass post.

Ok_Economist5375

L

mikosmoothis

chips and salsa stinky stank to-go anyway

gaporkbbq

Somebody should start a union.

WillingnessOk3081

maybe you should

Key-Minimum-5965

Yes, but you will probably drink a margarita or three while at the restaurant.

[deleted]

Nope, water for me. Don’t drink, especially when it’s just me.

hitpussylikegolfball

Holy hell you must be broke af

[deleted]

Actually not, just don’t like being charged for something that has been free at like every Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to AND barberitos.

Buruko

Wait until they go to a place that adds an "Economy Recovery Fee" to the bill...

I_say_upliftingstuff

Ok karen

WillingnessOk3081
