To be clear, despite the inapplicable NSFW tag this is an all-ages show!
Edit: I figured out that the label was something Reddit added automatically, and also something I could easily remove đĽł.
Because youâre supposed to go to the show and spectate in a way that suggests youâre absolutely not at all interested in looking at these very fit and beautiful womenâs bodies, not at all. youâre just there to marvel at the physical prowess and nothing more! Absolutely nothing more!
I didnât mean to - But I just saw that Reddit gave me the option to unmark it, and I have! My best guess is that reddit auto-marked it. I donât think itâs NSFW⌠and I still have no idea what heâs talking about. Maybe itâs moot though now that the NSFW label is gone đ¤
all these downvoters are pervs. this is not erotic or sexual at all folks. thatâs on you. donât go to this show if you simply want to look at womenâs bodies. stay away! and just so you know pole acrobatics are actually an ancient art first developed by ascetic monks in the 5th century. This is exactly what it looked like then.
Your sarcasm here is very confusing because it feels like youâre responding to things that no one here ever said. Idk who it is youâre actually mad at or what they said to you, but best of luck with that!!
hi friend. iâm not mad. just trying to explain why this is not at all sexual or erotic. itâs doesnât need a NSFW tag and you kindly addressed that. just curious, though, because of this initial tag: do you find it at all sexual or erotic? or does anyone else reading this?
I can understand why AI would automatically tag it NSFW - images of women on dance poles are probably NSFW often enough that it would make sense for this to get slotted into that category by a learning machine.
Having been a member of the stripper community, the broader non-stripper pole dance community, and the Canopy various times, hereâs what I think:
This photo is neither sexual nor erotic, in the same way that a vacation photo of a woman in a bikini is not necessarily erotic. The photographer/ subject can do many things to make the photo look high fashion, cute, funny, sexy (low-key), sexy (explicit), etc. Especially when you look at certain bikini styles that started with strippers but then became more mainstream, the bikini and the pole are both implements that can be presented sexually or not sexually.
Now there was a time when âpole sportâ first started being a thing where there were a lot of pole dancers trying to loudly distance themselves from strippers while practicing an art form developed by strippers. Thatâs where you may have heard people being really strident about Chinese poke athletics and demanding that no one mention or imply that they were dancing in a sexy style. Iâd say this was a big thing between 2012 and 2015.
Strippers *hated* this attitude and spoke out against it. The tenor was âif youâre going to copy what we do whatever but donât act like youâre better than us! Or like being mistaken for a stripper is suuuuch a shameful thing to happen. Thereâs nothing wrong with being a stripper! (This was amplified by the overwhelming racial and class disparities between âpole athletesâ and strippers).
The pole community as a whole has listened and learned a lot since then, to the point now where a lot of strippers offer classes for people interested in the art. Some pole studios are adults-only to reflect the more explicitly sexual style they practice. Canopy, in my opinion, and especially the folks in this photo (I am not in this photo btw), do a good job of being respectful to the history of pole, while creating a style more appropriate to the venue that tends to be more dramatic or fun, I would say âflirtyâ at most. Which is also what this photo appears to me.
Sorry that was more than youâve asked for! Youâve struck on a subject close to my heart đ.

Seriously, weâve got clowns, weâve got pride and prejudice, weâve got weird birds, weâve got a coven, something for everyone imo.
What about this post is NSFW?
Cuz itâs a secret
At my work, the activities depicted in this photo would be an OSHA violation. Tag checks out.
Nothing in my opinion - if I caused the picture to be blurred it was totally by accident.
Oh I just didn't know if you did it or a mod flagged it. Just didn't know how puritanical the subreddit was lol
Ok confirmed - Reddit auto labeled it after I posted it, but it turns out removing the label was super simple!
Reddit gonâ reddit
I donât know how to tag mods to ask, maybe thereâs some kind of auto-mod thing that Reddit does?
Because it's [provocative](https://youtu.be/_eRRab36XLI)
Because of the implication
Because youâre supposed to go to the show and spectate in a way that suggests youâre absolutely not at all interested in looking at these very fit and beautiful womenâs bodies, not at all. youâre just there to marvel at the physical prowess and nothing more! Absolutely nothing more!
hey man⌠what??
You labeled that picture as NSFW. You know exactly what u/WillingnessOk3081 is saying.

Nothing sexually suggestive at all in this picture. Nope. Nothing. If you think so, youâre just a perv.
I literally just donât know what you mean by sexually suggestive. What does that mean in this context?
