*Just gonna stick this in here..*
Reminds me of that post where the chic is mixing some food and is holding the bowl under her boob so she can keep her hands free
Omg I always wondered why my lil baby peaches would do this. Originally I thought it was to fancy her self up, but then her sister died and afterwards we left her cage door open and let her roam the house. She found an old box near her cage and decided that would be her new home. After a few weeks I realized she was trying to carry the pieces of paper into her box and build a nest. So I shoved a couple handfuls into the box. She is extremely territorial when she has eggs so she pecks if anyone comes too close. So I suffered those pecks knowing that she would be happy to have her nesting material in the actual nest instead of scattered in her corner of the room lol.
I highly recommend letting your birds get used to free roaming. She seems much more multi faceted and social now, and she pretty much said screw the cage I’m not living in there anymore. She is a much happier bird now and I hope she can live the rest of her days in happiness and peace although her sister has been gone for a few months now
Lovebirds all do this. They fluff out their tail feathers, stick nesting material in between the feathers and when they un-fluff the tail it’s held in place. They love paper for nests. Don’t leave paperwork for school or work laying around. It *will* get shredded.
Lovebirds will go through every piece of paper left in their potential reach. When I had one we would go collect phone books and make them available. She'd go through a book a day down to the glue.
My dad told stories about how his bird named Bird Man in the 80's got into his wallet and chewed up $10. My grandma kept the pieces in a bag and gave them to me sometime in the 00's and said go ahead and put it together and you've got yourself $10.
This is known as stirching, and is usually associated with birds that are anxious or homesick. Generally only smaller species exhibit this behaviour, with the Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle being a notable exception. It is thought that birds observed stirching have an association between the sensation of heavy or dense tail feathers and a feeling of security and wellbeing, but the main issue with this theory is that I just made up every single word of it, right here and now, just for this comment.
Nature is crazy!
She’s nesting. We saved a love bird that was lost outside. This it what she did to collect and build a nest. She may even lay one. Watch out, they will do this to clothes/fabrics as well.
The bird, however, is incorporating misinformation into its nest so that its children can conform and thus prosper in the bible belt. Don't judge Gloria, she's doing the best she can!
And people like you who assume he’s in the same country as you just shouts that you’re American lol. Would’ve been better to say “that’s what’s wrong with the internet”. I as an American can tell you’re American from one comment 😂
Yeah. You're right. But I did say wherever you're from. I should have said this world. I almost did...but I'm sure there's somewhere that isn't affected.
Are you sure? Has as much credence as any number of authoritative comments posited on internet. Perhaps, is a “thing” somewhere, we just haven’t heard about it yet?
Pretty sure it’s them tucking paper in the feathers. Why wouldn’t they know birds don’t call a contractor for their nest but actually collect materials.
I once lost a cheque to a lovebird that did this while free roaming. To this day I swear her partner distracted me by being cute on purpose while she shredded it. Luckily was not too big a cheque!
Just leaving this here.

I had a bird the species as yours, when we put paper in her cage for easy cleanin days later she used to completely torn apart all the paper and put some between her feathers.
But the worse was when she decided to shake her wings non-stop after doin so, you could find pieces of paper with shit mixed all over the place. even meters away from her cage.
these kinds of birds are awesome 👏🏻 i had a yellow and orange one named SunnyD and she used to cut up newspaper all the time :)
their beak is meeeean though i remember my leather-handed grandfather being shocked the bird was able to break the skin on his finger and make him bleed one Thanksgiving
Back in the day when computer paper was connected and you had to tear the sides off of both I used to give all the strips to the birds in my neighbor hood. Any nest I saw had computer paper in it.
OK, but Brian has on 37 pieces of flair...
But Stan, 15 pieces is the minimum...
If you're FINE with just doing the bare minimum then that's FINE but we here at chotskys believe in going above and beyond.
Finger guns. Looks like you guys have a case of the Mondays.
Makes the “O” face
Ohh ohhhh ohhh.
# *OHH*
Did you just touch my stapler?
If you want everyone to where 37 pieces of flair then make the minimum 37 pieces of flair!
Brianna* that’s a female lovebird!
as a brianna this is a fellow brianna
I thought he was trying to imitate a typewriter!
Every Lovebird I've know has done this. My mom and sister had a few
Does it bother your dad that your mom had a few lovebirds?
Do you know why they do this? Do they just like to feel fancy?
Gathering nesting material. Have owned lots of lovebirds, everyone also attempted this, some were definitely lacking in skill though lol
Thank you for that info.
Mine doesn't yet, to be fair he's a moody teenager ATM
He's trying to imitate the newspaper, best way to hide from the cat.
But hé was forgetting the dog

Some birds like the beak, other prefer it right up cloaca…
The ol bird cage safe
Me too!
OMG this makes sense much sense! I always wondered how they carried things to their nests!
I always just assumed they they’d take one in each foot and one in the beak. Ya Learn something everyday
*Just gonna stick this in here..* Reminds me of that post where the chic is mixing some food and is holding the bowl under her boob so she can keep her hands free
These are both insane ways of doing things tho tbh
Same! And if break my head thinking “but how do they do it so fast” 😂 this answers everything

Wholesome stuff
To be fair birds do usually just carry one piece at a time I think

Oh I thought he shoved it up his birdhole
It’s a cloaca. All purpose birdy bum/sex organs. I had to look it up…
Boy, that would be uncomfortable.
Probably shoulda blamed a bird for my homework instead of a dog when I was a kid.
I did. But they never chew off enough for it to be unreadable so you still have to do. It just looks a little weird and messy.
EXTENSIONS
FABULOUS
What a pretty little bird

jesus christ get over yourself
Only fancy birbs do it.

Ah ok. Thanks for that. Very interesting.

And your mortgage papers. Ask me how I know.
How do you know? Lol 😂
Such a great place for a u/shittymorph you know…
Why are you adding to misinformation. People like you are what's wrong with this country. Or wherever you live.
The bird, however, is incorporating misinformation into its nest so that its children can conform and thus prosper in the bible belt. Don't judge Gloria, she's doing the best she can!
NGL I can't argue with that.

Nah you edited it

Now I look pretty!
Birds of a feather, papercrochet together?
You didn't know birds gathered nest building materials?
I think the part where they put the materials in their feathers for transport. I think most birds just carry materials in their beaks.
This is a love bird trait specifically while normally used for transporting to the nest, sometimes they just like to rock a new fancy tail.
I didn't know they did it like this!
Every Lovebird I've know has done this. My mom and sister had a few
Paper feathers up there ass?
Pretty sure it’s them tucking paper in the feathers. Why wouldn’t they know birds don’t call a contractor for their nest but actually collect materials.
Imagine explaining to your professor, that a strange colorful birdy ate your thesis paper and stuffed in its tail for decorative purposes.
I once lost a cheque to a lovebird that did this while free roaming. To this day I swear her partner distracted me by being cute on purpose while she shredded it. Luckily was not too big a cheque!
He's making himself a peacock
I think the internet will respond differently if I post a video of me pushing paper scraps up my but and then running around like a human peacock.
The little waddle at the end made me laugh
the bird is attempting to replace its flight feathers. quite a morbid video.
He’s bringing sexy back. Them other birds don’t know how to act.
He is sexy and he knows it
Everything about this video is adorable. Especially the little scurry it does out of camera shot lmao
I'm a peacock Brian!
He ran out like “IM SUPER THANKS FOR ASKING!”
😁
Move out the way he's late for the Galla
‘Sorry my parrot ate my homework’
I stick feathers up my ass too
You got a paper cut kink too!?
It saws and I've delicate skin
So Tyler Dryden was wrong…?
I love birds I hope he’s ok and happy he needs a wife. LOL

No they can fly, it’s so they can carry nesting material.

Not related.
To shreds you say?
It's definitely a cross dresser.....
What parrot is this??
Lovebird (literally)
Thanks
How do they like.. hold it
What, what! Up the butt?
The birds wings are clipped so he can't fly, he's doing that so he can make better wings so he can fly again or so he thinks....

Oh dude look at my school books
We had a lovebird that did this. She was a psychopath.
Oh yes, Dina. Birds can milk anything with nipples..
Mine did this alllllll the time. Tucked it into her feathers and took it into her happy hut to make a "nest".
u also have no idea what ur mom does to me
Too cute! I love birds!
I could listen to the sound of that paper being shredded all day

Way too cute
A little typewriter.
They don’t. That’s a drone
Well this one definitely does.
I think this is like how humans do tattoos and piercings.
They are the DIY feather extensions you can buy from Walmart. Normally they have to go to a salon to get that good of results.

Birds like fashion too. I think it’s imagining it’s life as a peacock.
They tuck shit into their tails and ass so they can carry more stuff to build their nest with
The most adorable thing ever
I love the office space reference 😂😂 what a classic, I’m gonna re-watch that tonight on Hulu
"Clip my tail will ya? I'll make my own and fly this coup
This is cute asf
We don't need scissors
Birds are, on the whole, nuts and they know we know.
Not sure about real life but looks good on paper.
I love the little scuttle off at the end
That was cute
Probably because wild birds don’t have paper around !!!😳😉
And it waddled away

My bird does this! All of our books have pieces of paper chewed out of them
Back in the day when computer paper was connected and you had to tear the sides off of both I used to give all the strips to the birds in my neighbor hood. Any nest I saw had computer paper in it.
he wants his wings back :(
When i say my teacher "My pet ate my homework" I mean this
Flight feathers so he can fly far away
Bird is holding onto the strips for later for next building.
Funny little birb
Love birds will shred all your photos. They don’t give a shit about sentimental value.
