I don’t think saying you like Robert is an unpopular opinion. I think for many, he is their favorite character. He’s probably my favorite character as well, I just wish he didn’t have such a big mouth, can not keep a secret.
Sorry if the picture isn’t good quality but i didn’t want to try to pirate the episode so I could get a clear screenshot so I just took a picture of the episode on my tv on peacock.
Also I’ll start: Debra’s parents should have gotten more screen time and Uncle Mel should have too (rip).
the name of the show is meant to be said with jealous/sarcastic/ironic tone. I believe in the commentary, they decided on the name when Brad Garret delivered the line in the Pilot. "Everybody loves Raymond. I go to work people shoot at me. Ray goes to work, people do the wave." They really liked the way Brad delivered that line and felt it epitomized the show. It's not really meant to be taken as Everyone Loves Raymond except from Robert's jealous perspective (and he's wrong. Raymond is not so beloved).
Debra was a lousy housewife. The kids were gone most of the day and she still couldn’t have the house in order & she did have help because Marie brought her ass over every single day almost
What? No, she wasn’t. Also, a clean house is the only thing that housewives are expected to get done. My mom was a housewife with three kids in this period of time and she had to do everything.
I fully agree about her character towards the end of the show. Her screaming about everything was starting to be a sensory overload for me. It's very grinding on the nerves.
I could never understand how Debra didn’t know she was a bad cook. Didn’t she eat the food? For example, Marie’s meatballs, she relied on Ray to tell her what the weird taste was. Did she take Frank’s pills and lose her sense of taste?
Debra is not the nagging bitch the show (and the fans) try to make her out to be. If you had to live with overbearing in-laws and a husband who basically does nothing, I think you'd go crazy too.
Well in the first few seasons (1-5) Debra actually had legitimate reasons to be mad at Ray or someone in the family. In the later seasons (6-9) it felt like her and Ray quarreled over the smallest and most idiotic things.
Bad Moon Rising is hilarious and I know I shouldn’t take it seriously, but I do cringe whenever Debra starts getting physical with Ray. It veers too closely to spousal abuse for comfort. I know it’s a comedy and it wasn’t supposed to be read that way, but it doesn’t make me feel great 🤷♀️
that's not the only example. but if you start bringing up examples of how Debra is worse that Raymond because she is ALSO physically abusive on many occasions, you'll get looks like the one above.
100% spousal abuse. Hated how small she was and she’d hunch those broad shoulders forward and start walking towards Ray in an intimidating manner and he’d run. Bad Moon Riding is unwatchable. Or the time she punched Ray in the nuts and he was on the floor in pain bc he wanted to warn Robert about some manipulative plan of her’s and Marie. Hated how kids were in school all day, Marie was always over helping w chores and she still expected Ray to help w the housework when he came home. She belittled him to the kids, constantly called him an idiot and made fun of his intelligence, weaponized sex and then made fun of him for wanting it.
yeah she is a control freak, ray even points out that she likes him not doining anything cause it gives her reason to complain and even after bitching about him watching to much tv she buys him a DVD player
The opinion that would grant that luck, that it’s actually Deborah‘s fault that they are right next-door to marie and Frank. It shows when she was pregnant with the twins that the house was too good to be true and Ray kept saying I don’t wanna be near them, and even though she was pregnant, she would not take no for an answer until he finally caved in. I think deep down, she knows that Raymond is right and despite all the childish crap that he pulls, deep down, she just wants to blame him for the sake of he was right and that, even though that marie goes out of her way to help in her own obnoxious narcissistic way, she would’ve rather be asking for help rather than marie, just showing up every day. Even though they probably could afford some thing back then it was just too good to be true, because Frank did have the realtor license at the moment, but Deborah just kept insisting and now she regrets it and would rather blame Ray.
The Somebody Hates Raymond episode has a terrible ending. Instead of Ray accepting someone disliking him the moral is that people should apparently all bend over backwards for the guy. Robert standing up for him is a very unearned moment.
Debra should have got a job after the twins started school.
She should have went back to PR for the hockey team.
And since both make good money. Hire a maid and nanny
Debra could have trained Ray better if she wasn't such an arrogant and manipulative b. She could have locked the front and back doors once in a while and avoided intruders. She regularly shrieked and screamed like a banshee and called him an idiot. She could have talked to her husband instead of talking down to him.
I think the show gets better the farther away you get from the Debra-Ray relationship.
100%
I don’t get why they were even married. They seemed to hate each other.
Bro u ever been married
Amen. Like Marie said you.love em, you hate them, that's a marriage
The show should be called everybody hates Robert as for me he’s the best character and his episodes are hilarious
Robert is my favorite character. He never fails to make me laugh.
💯 all of his episodes are my fave
I don’t think saying you like Robert is an unpopular opinion. I think for many, he is their favorite character. He’s probably my favorite character as well, I just wish he didn’t have such a big mouth, can not keep a secret.
He did Amy dirty. He didn't have to go behind her back and string her along. She saved herself for him!!

Also RIP to Frank and Marie, Amy’s dad, Amy’s mom, Debra’s dad, Debra’s mom, sawyer sweeten (one of the twin boys), Garvin and a handful more 😕
Oh my goodness what happened to one of the twin boys?
Self inflicted 😕
Ohhhh that’s so sad to hear
Favourite episode was the mom’s vagina sculpture episode.
Definitely top 5. Hysterical.

So true. That’s why I read it as sarcasm since watching the show for many years lol

We don’t need to agree.
Based reply
Debra pisses me off
Agreed
Infuriating character
Can’t stand her either, nasty piece of work.
What? Why?
Because the older I’ve gotten and as a man I can relate to ray lol she’s a a nag
I hated Debra. She was okay at the start but very quickly her entire character was ray is the worst and my life is so hard. When it really wasn't.
I fully agree about her character towards the end of the show. Her screaming about everything was starting to be a sensory overload for me. It's very grinding on the nerves.
Yeah, in the early seasons she wasn’t too bad. As the show went on it got insane. I couldn’t live with that
That’s how Carrie Heffernan’s development as well. Got more and more aggressive and angry as seasons went on
I could never understand how Debra didn’t know she was a bad cook. Didn’t she eat the food? For example, Marie’s meatballs, she relied on Ray to tell her what the weird taste was. Did she take Frank’s pills and lose her sense of taste?

Debra is a verbally and physically abusive misandrist
Bro u seen the shit Ray tryna pull?
I know he doesn't constantly call his wife names and threaten/hit her
Bad Moon Rising is hilarious and I know I shouldn’t take it seriously, but I do cringe whenever Debra starts getting physical with Ray. It veers too closely to spousal abuse for comfort. I know it’s a comedy and it wasn’t supposed to be read that way, but it doesn’t make me feel great 🤷♀️

Ray is right Debra dose not have a real job, being a housewife is not easy but it’s definitely not the same as having a job
And when she actually got a job, she got fired on the first day for being over bearing, bossy and a relentless know it all, just like at home.
yeah she is a control freak, ray even points out that she likes him not doining anything cause it gives her reason to complain and even after bitching about him watching to much tv she buys him a DVD player
Boom!
Agreed
Debra sucks.
Alone Time is a top 5 episode of the series and Lateness is one of the weakest post-season 1 episodes of the series.
The opinion that would grant that luck, that it’s actually Deborah‘s fault that they are right next-door to marie and Frank. Robert treated Amy terribly throughout the show, and he didn’t deserve to end up with her.
True, but after they got married I though they were pretty good together.
Agreed
Debra should have married Robert. They both love dancing, and have better chemistry together
Those are not good reasons to marry someone…lol
He liked spending time with Debra and kids. Unlike Ray. Respected Debra more . Was more romantic.
That Marie is a bad mother
I don’t like that Raymond.
The Somebody Hates Raymond episode has a terrible ending. Instead of Ray accepting someone disliking him the moral is that people should apparently all bend over backwards for the guy. Robert standing up for him is a very unearned moment.
Robert is his older brother. It’s a natural reaction. You don’t let outsiders dog your brother.
There are quite a number of possible homosexuality around Robert in this show.
This is a fact sooo why would we be staring at you like the picture above?
Amy is no where near attractive, cute, funny nor corky. She added no value to the series. I wish they would have recasted her
Awww she’s my favorite female character. She’s hilarious. I didnt care about her during my first couple rewatches
She is married to the show runner, Phil Rosenthal. She wasn’t going anywhere.
Agree. Robert should have married Stefania. She was perfect for him . I was mad they made her annoying . They had chemistry.
But were they, "meant to be?"
She saved herself for him
Criticism of Debra
Debra should have got a job after the twins started school. She should have went back to PR for the hockey team. And since both make good money. Hire a maid and nanny
She did, but got fired on the first day bc people in a professional environment don’t put up with bossy, defensive, relentless know it alls.
I've never seen the show
You, my good friend, are missing out.
And we needed to know that why?
It's an opinion that would get that reaction
I'll give him that.
Debra looks like Fievel from Fievel Goes West
I never realised how Rapey Ray gets.
Debra could have trained Ray better if she wasn't such an arrogant and manipulative b. She could have locked the front and back doors once in a while and avoided intruders.
