r/CFB uses it a lot. The "I don't care for Auburn" from the Auburn sucks song is used a lot as well. Other UGA related memes they use are often from leaked Kirby locker room speeches (there's a new one from last night actually...) or Stetson Bennett is old and/or will have a car dealership and using the nattys to market.
You’d be shocked by all the old school townies in Athens who have matured enough to leave that I’m-no-jock bullshit behind. Here’s to hoping your comment was tongue-in-cheek.
Very true. The irony is how many townie/hipsters get into soccer or MMA which can be equally exploitative of young people and damaging to the body. IMO the townie/hipster backlash against football stems from its association with conservative Southern culture, something those folks are trying hard to rebel against.
It's a legitimate question. I'm on the older side and grew up in the midwest. All the kids who played college sports at that time were raised within 100 miles of the school.
These days? Most of the GA team was recruited from Texas and a handful of other states. What's there to be proud of? With that collection mentality, college sports has become more like pokemon than anything else.
“Townie” in Athens refers to what we now call a hipster. Doesn’t have much to do with being from Athens. Athens has long had a greasers vs socs (aka Outsiders) thing going on. Townies are all about music and art, riding their bikes, and shopping at the co-op. The UGA students, particularly the Greek folks, are on the other side with their BMWs or big trucks, new country music, conservative politics, and golf shirts. There’s even a line in downtown Athens that separates the townie bars from the “college” bars. The division isn’t as pronounced as it once was but it’s still there for a lot of people.
I will never understand supporting the football team of an educational institution that you did not attend. Are you a fan of their meal plans or student housing? Is that why you support them?
That game could've been an email.
That game was oof. Feel kinda bad for TCU.
Yeah that was more of an ass-whooping than a game
TC Who?

The real championship was last week against Ohio. What a nail-biter. This game was just…like…I was feeling sorry for TCU after a while.
Like a high school team playing a Nationally ranked SEC College football team. 🤣
That was a spectacular display - ridiculous
Go dawgs!
THWG
No thanks, trying to quit.
Man these Georgia southern grads sure are loud and not connected to UGA in any way
Hey now, some of us are saying THWg today.

Having seen the damage that football does, to the players, over time... No, I have no interest in it. CTE is awful.

The offensive and defensive mvp are Georgia boys. Are you drunk?

War Eagle.
Funny how this comment is so downvoted but the top comment is "THWG" Gives an interesting look at who is on this sub.
Well that just makes sense considering Georgia Tech is in Georgia.
Dawgs could have easily ran up another 20-30 points if they wanted too. I felt bad for TCU. They were way out of their league.
