It's fine, fun idea! might be worth theming the UI options a bit to evoke 00's (AAA games / etc), 90's (SNES probably?) and 80's (NES? Atari?). Basically: use pixelization (a/o color palette) of the option as a reference to what degree of oldschool-arcade you're talking about. Just kinda hammer it home. If you use increasing chunkiness that escalates left-to-right, it'll also communicate escalating difficulty better, maybe. Right now it feels a bit weird cus we're used to seeing 80s -> 90s -> 00's left to right, just break it up a bit so the viewer isn't interpreting these as just dates in a line.

Nice idea! Is the color changing if another another difficulty is selected? For example 80 will be red, to highlight that more?

baniboy86

I was thinking about showing some GIF. Like a unicorn for '00s or some minigun fire for the '80s

AdmLuZa

Why not, that would be something. It should be clear than. I am curious what you will choose at the end!

It's a nice idea and a cute joke, but it's not clear to me, from that ui, that 00s = easy, 90s = medium and 80s = hard. You could color code them, or add symbols (one skull = easy, three = hard)?

Dogekaliber

It makes sense to me.

Dogekaliber

Should include a short sound bite from each generation when you select a different difficulty.

GeoSol

Would be helpful if the bar changed color to subtly suggest the increased difficulty. So maybe for the 90's it turns yellow, and 80s it turns orange.

PixelCherryNinja

Great idea

I think it's a great idea and unlikely to offend anyone. However, we can assume someone will get offended at it, but that's just going to pique people's interest to discover your game, which is only a good thing :)

SlugGirlDev

I think it sounds witty and cute! Good idea 👍
