Remind me, how long has benchpress been in the paralympics?
I sincerely doubt it'll ever get into the olympics. Feel free to throw it in my face if I'm wrong. There's a nice remindme bot if you wanna call on that.
Maybe you know something I don't. I personally know people in my country's federation which is in WAF that are in meetings with WAF and Olympics representatives, and I know the talks and plans scheduled. It takes a while for these things to happen, it's huge corporations and lots of money and politics so things go slow. That doesn't mean it's 100% guaranteed but it's a heck of a better chance than 'no way'.
Yea, and you'll be absolutely free to throw it in my face. I pretty much stand by assessment that it won't see the Olympics, certainly not in 2028. Trust me, no one would be more glad than I if I'm wrong.
Yeah, Levan will be there as the cleanest puller of them all.
With the direction armwrestling is taking, it's going further and further away from ever being an Olympic sport.
You mean openly using. I'd say almost everyone who competes at the Olympics is on something, especially if you have a shot at a medal.
If AW went olympic, they'd have to get with the program. No more blasting and cruising so openly. Strength levels would drop somewhat.
This. What the fuck was that? Wrestling was one of the events in the early ancient olympic games and it's supercompetitive and beautiful. Let's get rid of running events, disc throwing and long jump while we are at it, no? give me a break
> Wrestling was one of the events in the early ancient olympic games and it's supercompetitive and beautiful.
Wrestling (or palé as it was known) had submissions back then
Weightlifting is the scapegoat for the Olympic committee to basically say “look guys we’re doing a good job with anti doping look at all these buffed up cheaters we’re taking out”. The weightlifting governing bodies are also insanely corrupt.
The sad thing is in spite of all the soapboxing RVJ has done about being natural and making it as a natural arm wrestler, there's a reasonable chance you're right.
I suppose the Olympics would *allow* him to compete on his publicly stated terms--whether he would or not is another question.
So many matches end with slip in losing position. Barely any armwrestling is taking place. Makes me understand why KOTT had/has the straight to strap rule.
Well, I guess I technically pulled CAF mostly, but it's exactly the same ruleset as WAF. Hence my disgust with WAF rules. All they would have to do to make their rules ok is implement running fouls and all slips to straps, but WAF is still stuck in the 1980s. WAF was all there was in Alberta when I still pulled competitively but since then there are leagues like Arm Wars, WAL, and KOTT which actually have sensible rule sets.
Not sure exactly why you're so hyper-partisan towards Europe and Euro-trash things.
Not yet, but we're definitely getting there. And this is awesome.
It's never going to get there.
It is already scheduled to enter Paralympics in 24' , then if all goes well Armwrestling should enter the Olympics in 28'. Don't be so negative kid ;)

It might now, nobody watched this last go around because of the lunny politics of some of the athletes.
It is not. The previous WAF events were also streamed on the Olympics website.
Oh, sorry didn't know

every Olympic athlete is also on juice
Yeah, but not openly. They are already there, armwrestling still needs to prove that it can fulfill those fake criteria they set.
true
He will be tested positive for apple juice.
If weightlifters can pass drug tests, I don't see why armwrestlers can't
Armwrestling isn't the Olympics yet. To get there, you need to show that the sport is clean and well organized. Then the shit show can begin.
With the amount of PEDs in the sport, I think it's far away.
what about cycling
Cycling the drugs? Or Drugs in cycling?
Curling
Levan is good at curling.

Who cares about the Olympics anyway. For me the games lost all credibility when they almost dropped Freestyle wrestling.

WTF! Bring that back!
It exists as catch wrestling, though palé had somewhat more lax rules
Yeah, I know. Just annoyed that a good MA got removed.
Right? You make a good point. Track and Field events and wrestling are probably the earliest Olympic sports.
And also now that they're dropping weightlifting lmao. Which is literally known by the world as Olympic weightlifting lol
Didn't know about the weightlifting, that's too much.
didnt they drop or consider dropping boxing and weightlifting
Weightlifting is the scapegoat for the Olympic committee to basically say “look guys we’re doing a good job with anti doping look at all these buffed up cheaters we’re taking out”. The weightlifting governing bodies are also insanely corrupt.
lol
What?
While I would love for it to be an Olympic sport the there also comes the drug testing. That’s gonna be a little tricky. Lol
Maybe RVJ could finally get a match on his terms...
It’s so cute you think he isn’t just as on the sauce as the rest of them.
Not knocking him because I can take all the gear in the world and not be at their level but they are all on it bud.

Do you know why he doesn't compete in WAF if he is so serious about anti-doping?
Because they put a video on YouTube ? Lol

I'd rather armwrestling died entirely than have the WAF ruleset enshrined as an olympic sport.
Say the very dude who constantly spit bullshit on how he armwrestled 20+ years in waf
Oooooof.
😬🔥
