The issue is that people think interest is weird now.
We’re so hyper-dysfunctional as a society anymore that normal human behavior is seen as some “weird/creepy/awkward” thing. People are interested in other people. It’s a thing. It’s sad the state we’re in now where we treat that like this big negative thing.
Same reason most people date people at the same level and/or industry of their profession and income level - to be with like minded people that generally experience the same things.
Celebrities in particular have to deal with stuff like paparazzi. Other celebrities know that, also have to deal with it and know how to. A normal person isn't used to that kind of privacy invasion and would cause a lot of stress and resentment.
Ah yes, the old mantra of every guy who's oblivious to mood, context and can't read social cues.
"It's not my social ineptness that's the problem. No, it's the women who are shallow and mean, because they didn't think it was creepy when _that guy_ said it."
> No, it’s 100% about looks and social status.
This is a simplistic reading. In the moment when those women are deciding how to react, I think confidence is probably the biggest thing.
If he walked up there stammering, stumbling over his lines, looking at his feet. He probably gets a less positive response.
Now that confidence was probably earned by being a hot beef cake.
But go look up comedian Stavros Halkias, he's ugly as fuck, but he could get away with a gag like this because he's lovable and confident.
Having a neckbeard and being a 'typical neckbeaed' means he wouldn't be demonstrating the same level of charisma.
So yeah, shave, workout a bit, brush your teeth, take a shower, then keep doing that same fucking thing every morning for 3 months and try again while actually demonstrating the same level of charisma and see what happens.
If you’re able to carry around that nightstand like it’s nbd for a prolonged tine actually trying to pick people up, chances are good you’re attractive to a decent number of people already.
Now I wanna see a conventionally unattractive guy do this (without paid actors) if they could hold a night stand like this, that is.. not like it's an achivement tho since these ladies seem like they'd screech at any other dad joke
You don’t have to be super attractive if the joke is funny enough. I feel like there are quite a few guys thinking they couldn’t pull this off, but could with a little confidence
Lady here, this is the hack. Our impression of people and attraction to them can change a lot based on actions and how they make us feel. This extends to attractiveness too!
Exactly. I’ve told my friends this for years, both men and women. You can be literally Quasimodo, but with enough confidence you can be the most attractive person in the room. There have been plenty of my guy friends who weighed over 250 that were my “competition” when we went out to bars, and there were plenty of girls that it seemed everyone just had this collective illusion that they were the hottest girl in the room, just because of the confidence factor.
The problem is that it’s hard to explain to people. When you’re unattractive, you either decide early on to be super confident, or you let rejection after rejection build your personality for you. You stop taking chances, you get out of practice with just regular conversation…and you end up failing because you doomed yourself from the start. I wish there was some sort of class to help people just be more confident that other people at least wouldn’t mind having a conversation with them. The choices right now either seem to be toastmasters, or some dumb pick up artist that makes YouTube vids
Incorrect. I am a female almost 6ft tall , and married a man who was 5'6. Back in the late 80s early 90s.
100% was his ability to be a goofball, be hilarious, and of course, could keep up with me fishing with 6 rods off the pier at the beach.
Gotta be able to bring home the dinner with a joke that's a winner, everything else is just fluff !
Went to dick's sporting goods looking for a pair of shoes as a tall male, and saw a chidren's pink flip flop on display.
Took the flip flop to the assistant and asked if they had it in men's size 12 and they scanned it and said no.
There was no reaction. Dead silence. I said thank you and walked away.
Nobody said dating, the guy above said "to pull off this prank" and I replied I disagree. I think women would respond with appreciation of the effort regardless of looks. It's a funny prank that isn't disrespectful.
Protip: if you do this, get the Ikea Brimness nightstand. It's a lot lighter than it looks and you can put led bulbs inside so you can keep flirting at night!
I disagree completely. The goal here is to make people laugh, not to actually get laid. Find the right crowd, deliver it with the right timing and intonation (as is necessary for the successful delivery of any joke), keep it light and not disrespectful, and you’re golden.
Being able to make someone laugh is a very attractive quality, and a great way to make an introduction. A thousand years ago when I was in high school I was a very confident, forward, and horny teenager. Invited a cute classmate to my house to hang out, and at some point he noticed I had a glass mannequin head so I handed it to him and told him he could now truthfully tell his friends I’d given him head. We dated for years after that.
If anything he demonstrates how achievable it is to be “attractive”.
1. Confident
2. Funny
3. Fit
4. Well groomed
5. Basic style that fits well
That’s all things that almost anyone can achieve with some effort/practice.
The funny thing about the “1. Be attractive 2. Don’t be unattractive” meme is that people say it as if it’s this impossible thing, but it’s actually good advice. Being attractive is more than just physical. It’s charisma, it’s being interesting, it’s being a good person, etc. And not being unattractive is also more than physical - it’s not being creepy, not being an asshole, not being insecure. So yes, by cultivating attractive qualities and eschewing unattractive qualities, people will be attracted to you.
Certainly think a lot of guys could benefit from the realization that it takes more than looks to not only be seen as attractive but also just be a better person. Nobody likes a cocky dickhead just cause he looks nice, or a very small minority would at the most. But still, for the average dude, who lacks in the looks/physicality department, just being more charismatic won't be the answer to all of their problems. There's certainly a societal bias towards people who are fit and top that with solid personality characteristics and you're definitely up at the top to pull off stunts like this and be received nicely lmao.
I saw a girl dressed as a night stand for Halloween like 20 years ago and I heard somebody ask her what she was supposed to be and she said *one night stand.* One of the best costumes I’ve ever seen.
Me trying to do this:
*Carrying the nightstand*
Would you ladies be interested in my caulk? Fuck!
"What"
Would you like a pie stand?
"What"
Nothing, sorry.
#### [HR meme](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/663/485/1f8.jpg) fits well here.
Be attractive and these lines are funny and charming.
Look like me and the same lines are creepy and threatening.
This is cool and all but I am so out of shape I would be two out of breath from holding the nightstand to say anything..plus I'm so ugly they would consider it assault that I said anything.

Now that's a damn good ice-breaker
*brandishes ice pick at screaming women*
The Iceman Cometh
That motherfucker was crazy too
I own that movie, one of my favorites
Read the book. Fucking crazy.
That's it, I'm getting me mallet
The kind of women that works on...you do not want it to work on.
Speak for yourself. I will fight, and I will win, just as great grandfather caveman did.
Ah yes, the Trotsky greeting.
"From Russia with love"
Are these women in danger?
Try doing it not being sculpted like a Greek god
Same thought
It all depends on who is doing it. This guy, sure. Carrot Top, no.
Pulls out ammo generating sniper
This is actually not a bad opener
Super funny and original, but just a tad impractical lol
you show that you are witty, ripped and funny in one move
...and you have to carry around one night stand
This is why you should do it with a screw instead. Makes it a lot easier.
Fancy a screw?
Hold my nuts.
Drive hammered get nailed or drive twisted and get fisted
Not if she accepts! Then she can carry it.
I think whipping out your caulk wouldn't be so impractical
>This is actually not a bad opener *Pulls out a can opener*
Can open so many cans with this bad boy!.... And by cans...
Can it cut cans?
Now every mother fucker is going to rock up with a one night stand in the clubs
*Pulls out a bottle and a bottle opener*
idk, I'd think the joke was funny, but if someone did that and then sincerely went after me, it'd be pretty weird.

Good opener with the one night stand, but too far with the caulk and cream pie
That’s it, I’m carrying a night stand all the time
Let that sink in
Is there a guy carrying a sink, now?
Always was
Is that so his wife can always come with him? ^^(Please don't kill me)
Okay, Elon
To me that confirmed the fact that he doesn’t have one single friend to tell him the truth like “this is fucking stupid, you apartheid incel ass.”
Nah, Musk tried that a couple months back. Things got pretty terrible after that.
He sunk pretty deep
Terrible for who?
Users of Twitter I guess, everybody else just laughing at the spectacle
I'd bet he bought it just because he hates twitter, either he makes money or twitter goes out of business, either way he wins.
Would make a great Halloween costume, anyway
It would probably be easier to offer the cream pie.
Nice 👍 dm me a pic for research jk don’t
Don’t forget the cream pie
That will drawer attention
Don’t forget to fill it with a cream pie.
Rule 1. Be attractive Rule 2. Don’t be unattractive
Rule 3. If you're uncertain about your actions giving you a negative image, look back to Rules 1 and 2.
This is something Barney would pull off in HIMYM
That sounds legen-
...wait for it...
C-c-combo breaker!
Not even mad. Take my upvote.
Underrated comment. Came here to say this.
This

.......DARY! LEGENDARY! Barney five!
3. Have basic Charisma
(be neuro typical)
I don't know man, Pete Davidson is ugly af and he pulls
It’s all about being funny. If Eric Andre can bang Emily Ratajkowski that says something
More bc hes comnected and got bank
Nah, celebs he hooks up with have their own connections and money. Being able to make someone laugh is really priceless
Then why doesnt a single celebrity in the entire world date a poor nobody with good humor?
Same reason most people date people at the same level and/or industry of their profession and income level - to be with like minded people that generally experience the same things. Celebrities in particular have to deal with stuff like paparazzi. Other celebrities know that, also have to deal with it and know how to. A normal person isn't used to that kind of privacy invasion and would cause a lot of stress and resentment.
Ok summer child
It's only creepy if they don't find you attractive lol 🤷
Hello human resources.
True, though. The problem is creepy guys have no social awareness.
Ah yes, the old mantra of every guy who's oblivious to mood, context and can't read social cues. "It's not my social ineptness that's the problem. No, it's the women who are shallow and mean, because they didn't think it was creepy when _that guy_ said it."
Fun sponge
Comedy and tragedy are cousins. When a joke is repeated enough it slowly stops becoming a joke.
I always took it as a wake up call to work on oneself
No, it’s 100% about looks and social status. It takes one or the other. If both, the next galaxy is the limit.
> No, it’s 100% about looks and social status. This is a simplistic reading. In the moment when those women are deciding how to react, I think confidence is probably the biggest thing. I honestly agree with you, but this also reads like you're just saying "don't be unattractive" with more words.
Just the fact that you’re saying it’s 100% about anything proves you’ll never figure it out. Edit: who boy the incels are out in this thread.
Ah the old idea that attractive people don't get *way* more leeway in their social interactions. Life isn't fair and accepting that helps.
Life's fairness has nothing to do with being attractive or not. There's alot of body dysmorphia in the incel community and it shows.
If you’re able to carry around that nightstand like it’s nbd for a prolonged tine actually trying to pick people up, chances are good you’re attractive to a decent number of people already.
Pro tip. Being funny and not being insecure are both attractive things.
It also helps to only upload the videos the got positive reactions

I mean, being attractive includes your personality.
What’s your point?
That offering a stranger to give them a cream pie might not come across as funny if you’re unattractive.
There are plenty of people who are very funny and not good looking and any of them could easily do this same thing and have the girls laughing.
You forgot Rule 0. Be tall.
Incorrect. I am a female almost 6ft tall , and married a man who was 5'6. Harvey Weinstein was confident yet unattractive.
You have to be good looking to pull off this prank
And find the right crowd. Otherwise, they might not get mad, but they also won't give you any great reactions like this

that's the joke. -Rainier Wolfcastle
Was it supposed to be funny? What reaction were you expecting?
I can totally imagine a group of women who don't know what a nightstand is, thinking he's just being weird as well as asking creepy questions.
While holding a table
Thanks Captain Obvious lol
I dunno about this. The effort to carry around a damn nightstand would be seen as pretty legit from the average woman, regardless of the guy.
Don't tell reddit that it takes actual effort to get with someone, they'll go rabid.
I thought you just have to be a gentleman and say M’lady
"Wow this guy's prop really tells me he's serious about dating me."
Nobody said dating, the guy above said "to pull off this prank" and I replied I disagree. I think women would respond with appreciation of the effort regardless of looks. It's a funny prank that isn't disrespectful.
Most women find this shit hilarious, you dont have to be fuckable to make someone laugh.
It's a joke. Are you so unsocialized that you don't understand that a joke isn't serious or can't have benign intentions behind it?
Protip: if you do this, get the Ikea Brimness nightstand. It's a lot lighter than it looks and you can put led bulbs inside so you can keep flirting at night!

I mean if an attractive guy came up to me and pulled this, I’d hop in his car lmao.
Sorry, he only has the nightstand, no car.
He’s rather naughty isn’t he?
*pulls out a rope*
*stretches that rope and for whatever reason it makes whip cracking sound*
The reason i think is called editing.
Was going to like your comment but I don’t want to break the 69.
Once had a gf tell me to act my age. Told her I would when I turn 69!
That takes balls, I would definitely Take them
The.. balls?
Yes. Give them to me.
I will suck on those balls
This dude look like every bald guy with a beard but the reddit is praising him like he super attractive to do this lmao.
I kind of agree but hes probably physically fitter than 95% of males in America
Based on what? The fact he can carry a nightstand?
Yea that’s a big part of it. Another is the fact that 50% are obese
Nightstand is big too. Don't forget the weight of bud massive caulk and cream pie in there
Based on his build which you can see in the video.
Must be nice to have eyes
That fact that his tires are on his car and not his waist

Yeah lol. It was all about the delivery of the joke and gauzing their reaction.
Gauzing their reaction? Oh damn, they bled tears? Where? 🤪
*gauging
He’s not fat and he works out which is a very foreign concept to the average Redditor.

Now you can have my caulk.
Anyone have the full video, or is it just a clip? Hilariously either way
[Full video](https://youtu.be/C1RPyyGCOK4)
Haha it was greats, deserves way more views
Then he proceeded to take all three of them home that day
This man's pickup lines are smoother then his bald ass head
You'd have to have a night stand for this prank..
Guys that look like that don't need pick up lines.
I’m taking these next time I’m out at da club
r/pickuplines
I can guarantee if this guy wasn't as attractive looking, this would end very differently.
How embarrassing
Man, that’s lame
Bet he gets all the bitches
Yes
Who is this guy? because I really thought this was Andrew Tate for a second, but he's sounds and acts too kind to be that asshole
W rizz
Genius!
I remember being 13
Yo is that Leah Thomas ?
He took all 3 of them home
This is cool and all but I am so out of shape I would be two out of breath from holding the nightstand to say anything..plus I'm so ugly they would consider it assault that I said anything.
How about a back door?
They look interested lol
Them ladies got excited and curious quick 😂
It was the caulk for me.
Normal people don't react like this do they? Gotta be staged?
people doing a bachelorette party might react like this tbh
BWAHAHA❗🤣
Why did they go touch the nightstand like they didn't think it was real or something
Mās Aquì @Espiadas_bot
If he was ugly there would be an oppisite reaction
I want daddy's cream pie
Their reaction was super funny and cute. Dam, quite like the vid
Sauce? I wanna sub to this dude
I give my handyman friend a hard time about rubbing his caulk on everything.
Who's thus guy?
That belongs in r/MadeMeSmile funny is pushing it
